The families of teens lost after a deadly inferno at a establishment in a Swiss alpine town are enduring an painful period of uncertainty for confirmed information and requesting information about their children online.
The blaze engulfed the Le Constellation bar in the alpine resort, located in the Swiss Alps of south-west Switzerland, in the small hours of January 1st. Verified video depict the ceiling being engulfed in flames as bottles with sparklers are held aloft.
Officials have warned that it could take considerable time to formally name the fatalities of the tragedy, which resulted in the death of four dozen individuals and injured another 119. Heartbreaking Pleas for the Unaccounted For
The fate of teenager from Switzerland Arthur Brodard, 16, are still unconfirmed, according to an public plea from his family.
The resident of Lutry near Lausanne, told a publication that she had gone back to Lausanne to check whether he was in the hospital, while his father did the equivalent search in Bern, but did not locate him.
"It feels like a terrible dream, a nightmare. Either I find my son in the morgue, or I find him in a serious state. It's terrible," she said.
She continued that some of his companions had been located with burns covering a significant portion of their bodies. "It's unspeakable; they endured a terrifying ordeal."
The Italy's government has confirmed that a number of of its young people have not been located.
One of those is Emanuele Galeppini, a teenage junior golfer, who hailed from Genoa but now residing in the UAE.
The national sporting body has stated that he is deceased, without mentioning the fire, paying tribute to a "talented young man who embodied dedication and authentic values."
His father, reportedly stated that his son was at the bar and was last heard from around midnight. An representative has clarified that a formal confirmation of his death is not yet.
Other Cases
Giovanni Tamburi, 16, is also unaccounted for. His mother said that he had been on holiday but had ventured out with friends and found himself at the venue.
"A close friend said they fled after the fire started and that he had his mobile with him, but then at a certain point he lost sight of him," she explained, adding he had been wearing a distinctive piece of jewelry.
One of his teachers said, "I've always been struck by his kindness and smile, alongside great maturity. Every time ask if help out."
Alice Kallergis, who holds both Greek and Swiss nationality but lives full-time in the country, was also at the bar on that night, according to reports.
Her sibling has shared an appeal online, saying the relatives has had "no information" regarding the teenager or the three friends she was with, who are also reported missing.
Officials from her country of origin say they are closely watching the case.
