Kansas City Chiefs Confirm Domestic Violence Allegations Involving Player the Athlete

The Kansas City Chiefs released a comment Wednesday night stating they have knowledge of domestic violence allegations made public in online accounts by a former girlfriend of player the athlete and had been in communication with the league office.

The organization omitted the name of Rice specifically in their announcement and said they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

Claims Shared on Social Media

The woman, who also did not mention the athlete by name, posted a series of photos on Instagram that appeared to show indicators of bodily harm. She did say the individual in question was the parent of her kids, and it is known she has two children with the football player, whom the team drafted in the 2023 draft.

Police Reports Reportedly Not on File

No police reports were on file in the Kansas City suburb where the alleged abuse is said to have taken place.

Rice's Recent Off-Field Troubles

The receiver was absent for the initial part of this NFL campaign following an league-mandated ban for his involvement in instigating a crash on a Texas roadway that left several individuals hurt. Rice was given 30 days in jail and five years’ probation after entering a guilty plea to serious offenses.

On the field, Rice concluded the year with 53 catches for 571 receiving yards and five TDs as the Chiefs went 6-11 and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first occasion in a decade.
