Portland additionally secured their first game after the detentions, with Brazil-born Splitter stepping in as interim coach in Chauncey's absence and leading the team to a convincing 139-119 win over the Warriors.

NBA Commissioner Adam Silver 'Disturbed' over Arrests

"We were informed by the authorities and the gambling firms," he added.

"We then looked into that situation and were very transparent about it. And while there was the unusual wagering, we, frankly, found no evidence.

"Federal authorities has legal authority... [it] can threaten to put people in jail, can do all kinds of things that the NBA is unable to.

"So, we've been working with them since then. And, of course, what they announced recently was an charge.

"Moreover 30 months later, he still hasn't been convicted of any offense, in fairness to Rozier.
