Kai Trump can count on numerous prominent cheerleaders when she makes her first LPGA appearance this Thursday.
The 18-year-old athlete, who is the granddaughter of a former US president, received a tournament invitation to play at the Annika competition in the Sunshine State.
The former president, an avid golfer, operates several international courses and often plays against his granddaughter.
"He's pretty good. I can't reveal details but we play some close matches," she revealed.
The golfer shared that her grandfather, who cannot attend, advised her: "Simply avoid anxiety."
"He basically advised me to play and have fun," she continued.
"In my eyes, he's just an ordinary family member. He won't be there for the tournament. He's focused on running the country, making him rather occupied."
While still amateur, Kai has participated in just three tournaments this year and has position 461 in AJGA listings.
Yet she's able to receive tips from golf legend, romantically involved with Kai's mother.
"He stands as the top athlete in the world," Kai expressed.
"And he's a superior individual. He told me to go out there, have fun, adapting to whatever happens."
Kai will face several the biggest names in the sport at the Annika, featuring world number two the champion, England's golfer Hull, professional Thompson and 2023 champion Lilia Vu.
Officials mentioned that involving Kai exposes the sport to new audiences, specifically with youth audiences.
The social media influencer maintains millions of followers and recently launched her own clothing and lifestyle company.
The competition starts at 5:30 PM GMT.
